Vic Metro Under-18 Tryout Nominations Open

Tryouts will be held for Vic Metro’s 2019 Under 18 Australian Junior Championships teams, which will head off to Townsville from 13 – 20 April, 2019.

The Victoria Metropolitan State Team Coaching Staff along with Basketball Victoria and the MUVJBL would like to invite nominations from all Metropolitan Associations.

All Metropolitan associations are asked to nominate your best players currently playing in your MUVJBL Under-18 VC or highest-ranked team in that age group, who you consider to be of a sufficient standard to represent the state at a national level.

Please list them in ranked order with the first player listed ranked as Number 1.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR PLAYERS

  • Eligible players must not turn 18 years of age prior to 31 December 2019 (ie. they must be born in 2002/2003).
  • They must be participating in a competition being conducted by Basketball Australia or Basketball Victoria.
  • Players must be nominated by the MUVJBL Association with which they are registered.
  • Ability of the player as displayed during: State Championship games, BV Specialist Camps, NITP squads, State Team trials and other games as observed by the appointed coaches and selectors of the State Team.
  • Athletic ability, size and skill levels that are likely to achieve success at a National Championship.
  • Ability to fill a role required by the coaching staff of the team.
  • Ability to fit into the coach’s team concept based on the ability, compatibility, personality and character of the player.

Players who are successful will be invited via email by Basketball Victoria and players must register their attendance online. Directors of Coaching will also be notified (via email by Basketball Victoria) of players from their association that have been invited to attend.

Associations must ensure all contact details are fully completed – particularly players and DOC email addresses, as communication will be made via email.

Player Selection Try-outs selections will be made at the end of each session. Dates of further sessions will be advised to those selected.
