Vale Dianne Widdis (June 1943 – 4th July 2023)
Our love and thoughts are with Dianne’s family and friends at this very sad time.
Dianne will be missed by all of us at Spartans basketball but in particular the score bench community and the players from A Res and B Grade Men. Dianne could be found every Tuesday night, on court 9, where she managed all of “her boys”. For over 15 years Dianne has been a valued member of our Scorer community, attending MSAC each week, bringing a wicked sense of humour and always with a smile and a fun attitude, Dianne was well known, regarded as an excellent scorer and a very kind hearted and caring woman.
Dianne started as a score table official in 1994, gaining her National Level 4 accreditation in 2009 at the Wheelchair Basketball: Asia Oceania Men’s Championships 2009 held at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium, and scoring NBL1 and BigV games at the Sandringham Basketball association.
On Tuesday 11th July, at the start of each game a moments silence will take place and black arm bands will be made available to pay respect to Dianne.
Dianne will be sadly missed by us all.
