UNDER 14 BOYS AUSTRALIAN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS TEAMS ANNOUNCED
To compete in the Australian Under-14 Club Championships, teams must qualify through their respective state competitions. The teams will compete to take home the Ken Watson trophy.
Defending champions Eltham are looking to win back-to-back Australian Club Championships, after winning the National Junior Classic just a few months earlier. The Wildcat’s come into the tournament as Victorian number one seed and having previously won the Club Champs in 2017 and 1999. Nunawading will be looking to challenge the Wildcat’s crown after the Spectres fell to Eltham in the final of the Classic.
The National Junior Classic is normally a great indicator of a team’s chances at the Club Championships, with the competition featuring the best teams from Victoria, South Australia, ACT and NSW. After an all-Victorian final at the Junior Classic, perennial contenders Sydney Comets pose a threat while the Junior Classic 8th place Norwood Flames will also challenge the Victorian dominance. The Queensland and Western Australia teams will be the wildcard, with the Brisbane Capitals, Cairns Marlins and Townsville Heat representing the sunshine state, while the Stirling Senators, South West Slammers and the two-time champions Willetton Tigers will make the long flight across the Nullabor.
With the tournament being held at one of the countries’ biggest associations in Kilsyth, the Championships are all set for a very exciting few days.
