MAGBEGOR EARNS UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA VICE CHANCELLOR’S AWARD

Given to two students at Lake Ginninderra who are considered the best all-rounders, the award identifies students who can combine the demands of study in conjunction with performances in other fields/pursuits while achieving outstanding results across all disciplines.

“Over the last two years, Ezi has demonstrated dedication not only to basketball, but to her academic pursuits,” said University of Canberra’s Dean of Education, Professor Geoffrey Riordan.

“Ezi is an elite sporting student at our college who also received the Lake Ginninderra Athlete of the Year for both 2016 and 2017.

“She was a member of the Australian Under 17’s women’s basketball team that won the world title in 2016 and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the international tournament.

“Her success is partly due to her high level of commitment to the Centre of Excellence program at the Australian Institute of Sport and she was signed by the University of Canberra Capitals in 2017 where she has combined playing in the WNBL with completing year 12 classes with excellent results.

“Ezi’s maturity and humility has ensured that she is highly respected by her peers and teachers.”

As a school, Lake Ginninderra once again performed admirably with Acting Principal John Alston-Campbell extolling the overall ATAR results.

“Lake G this year has 16 students per 100 awarded an ATAR above 90 and a whopping 39 per 100 above 80,” he said.

“This is almost double the norm. Further, the AST candidates achieved the best AST results ever for Lake G in the BSSS online archive since 2005. Lake G is clearly Canberra’s best kept academic secret.”

Congratulations to all graduating atheltes from Lake Ginninderra and Ezi Magbegor.

At the University of Canberra Senior Secondary School Lake Ginninderra’s graduation ceremony this week, rising star Ezi Magbegor was recognised for her efforts at school and on the court to earn the University of Canberra Vice Chancellor’s Award.
