Joint statement from Basketball Australia and the Australian Opals
Basketball Australia and the playing group stand unequivocally united in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people of colour and diverse communities around the globe in affirming that Black Lives Matter.
Together, we are committed to using our position and platform to engage, listen, and be a vehicle for change for those in our communities impacted by racism and discrimination in all its forms.
Both parties agreed to keep the Australian basketball community and community at large informed about the ongoing work Basketball Australia is and will be doing to build a more tolerant and just society.
Basketball Australia and the Australian Opals met today to discuss our shared belief on the important role our sport can play in eradicating racism, discrimination and injustice.
