JENNA O’HEA APPOINTED CHEMIST WAREHOUSE AUSTRALIAN OPALS CAPTAIN FOR 2018 FIBA WORLD CUP

One of the veterans of the team, O’Hea won a bronze medal with the Opals at the 2012 London Olympics and a gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games this year.

She has also won two WNBL Championships with the Bulleen Boomers and Dandenong Rangers and was named to the WNBL All-Star Team in 2011 and 2012.

“With a high basketball IQ and as a well-respected leader in the team, Jenna is a natural choice to lead the Opals during our World Cup campaign,” said Brondello.

“She has always been respected and valued for her professionalism both on and off the court and her experience having played for several years both home and abroad will be a distinct advantage for the Opals.”

“Cayla George, Elizabeth Cambage and Katie Ebzery have been named in the leadership group to support Jenna and the team during this tournament. They will all wear the green and gold with pride and are all great leaders in their respective ways.”

The Opals begin their 2018 FIBA World Cup campaign against Nigeria at 8.30pm AEST tonight and every Australian game will be shown live on Fox Sports Australia.
