DENG ADEL BECOMES TENTH AUSTRALIAN IN NBA

Adel was born in South Sudan before moving with his family to Melbourne where he began to play basketball as a junior. Landing a scholarship to Victory Rock Prep in Florida when he was 16 years old, Adel averaged 22 points and eight rebounds in his first season before signing with the University of Louisville.

A starter in his freshman year, Adel battled through injuries before emerging as a star in his junior year when he averaged a team-high 14.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists while starting 33 out of 34 games.

While he went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Adel has impressed in his NBA G-League stint with the Raptors 905 where he played 32 minutes per contest for 13 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Adel will join compatriot Matthew Dellavedova at the Cavaliers, becoming the tenth Australian in the NBA alongside Ben Simmons and Jonah Bolden (Philadelphia 76ers), Joe Ingles and Dante Exum (Utah Jazz), Patty Mills (San Antonio Spurs), Aron Baynes (Boston Celtics), Thon Maker (Milwaukee Bucks) and Ryan Broekhoff (Dallas Mavericks).
