Basketball Victoria 2018 AGM update

To our member associations and members of the Victorian basketball community,

Thank you to those member associations that attended in the 2018 Basketball Victoria Annual General Meeting. Whether attending in person or via our online live-stream, it was a great turnout and we thank you all for your active participation.

This is a brief overview of Wednesday evening’s AGM, in which our member associations voted on a number of motions including the election of two Board members and the elevation of life membership for two deserving individuals.

Our member associations passed an omnibus resolution to amend and update minor sections of the Basketball Victoria Constitution while the second motion of the evening did not have a 75 per cent majority in the vote, therefore the motion was not successful.

The attending associations also elected two Basketball Victoria Board members to serve for the next three years. Basketball Victoria Board member Shelley Lambert was re-elected for her third term and we congratulate David Skelton on his successful election to the board for the first time.

The Basketball Victoria Board look forwards to working alongside David to ensure Victorian basketball continues to thrive at all levels throughout our state. We would also like to thank all of the candidates for putting their hands up to contribute to our organisation.

The Basketball Victoria Board would like to personally thank Leanne Sheean who did not re-nominate for election this year. Leanne served for three years on the BV board and has been a delight to work alongside. She has acted with integrity, professionalism and her contribution to the community has been gratefully received. We thank you Leanne and will always appreciate your time with Basketball Victoria.

In the last act of the night, Basketball Victoria put forward two nominations for life membership which our member associations voted in.

On behalf of our member associations, the Basketball Victoria Board, and our staff members, I would like to personally congratulate Dan Kirtley and Darryl Neal on receiving Basketball Victoria life membership. These men have been incredible contributors to basketball in our state for decades and our sport has flourished with their hard work, support and guidance.
