AUSTRALIAN CLUBS REPRESENT ASIA-PACIFIC AT JR. NBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Eltham Wildcats are competing in the boy’s division while the Bulleen Boomers will compete in the girl’s division.
Both clubs were invited to the new NBA tournament after winning the Under-14 2017 Australian Club Championships.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for two Victorian clubs to represent Australia and the Asia Pacific region on the international stage.” Said Chief Executive Officer of Basketball Australia, Anthony Moore.
“Both the Eltham Wildcats and Bulleen Boomers have earned their spot in the Jr. NBA World Championships after taking out Basketball Australia’s 2017 Australian Under-14 Club Championships, and we are thrilled to be a part of the journey that these athletes are about to undertake.”
Moore was in high praise of the current state of the junior program in Australia.
“Basketball is a truly global game, everyone in the Australian basketball system works hard to continue to develop our junior participation, making it one of the most widely enjoyed sports in the country.”
“We are excited to have the NBA once again recognise the potential in Australian Basketball.”
The tournament is held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disneyworld Resort.
The games will be broadcasted on Fox Network (US Only) and Bleacher Report Live, which is currently geo-blocked in Australia. Live stats will be available on the Jr. NBA website: https://jrnbawc.nba.com
The two teams will face stiff competition as they come up against the best players from the European, Asian and American regions.
When asked about the tournament, Bulleen Boomers Captain Tess Heal, niece of Australian Basketball legend Shane Heal, was excited by the opportunity to “meet all the players from all around the world and getting to experience international skill levels.”
“I’ve been looking forward to experiencing a different culture, and a different country and getting to hang with these girls.”

In the lead-up to the tournament, the teams have been to Disneyland and taken part in the Jr. NBA World Champs opening ceremony where Eltham player Harrison Stones won the knockout competition and was lucky enough to be congratulated by NBA All-Star Andre Drummond.
