2018 UNDER-14 BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM LISTS REVEALED

Find the Under-14 Boys team lists here and the Under-14 Girls team lists here.

Running from October 1-6, the two competitions will see 24 teams go head-to-head with pool games held for the first two days before the clubs are split into Championship and Shield Division.

The medal games for both divisions will then be held on Saturday, October 6 with the Under-14 Boys Championship Division gold medal game held at 6.00pm in Kilsyth before the Under-14 Girls play at 7.30pm in the corresponding game in Shepparton.

Aiming to defend their title, the Eltham Wildcats welcome back Kristian Ferronato who was their leading scorer at last year’s tournament and also competed at the Jr. NBA World Championships in August.

Connor Gonios and Anthony Mundine will be aiming to go one step further than their silver medal performance with the Sydney Comets from 2017 while the likes of Joshua Dent (Illawarra Hawks) returns after impressing last year.

The Nunawading Spectres will be keen for redemption, returning to the Boys Championships for the first time since 2014 when they won the silver medal while Willetton Tigers won the Shield Division last year and Darwin Cyclones claimed the bronze medal which will give them confidence they can make some noise in the Championship Division this year.

For the Under-14 Girls, the Melbourne Tigers will enter as favourites after winning the National Junior Classic in June as well as the MUVJBL last weekend.

Coached by Australian Basketball Hall of Famer Ray Tomlinson, the team features Amy Kurkowski and Jessica Barnett-Tonna who starred in the MUVJBL finals.

However, fellow Victorian teams including the Knox Raiders, who won the tournament in 2016 and were runners up to Melbourne in the MUJVBL finals, will be looking to knock them off in front of a home crowd.

Gold Coast Waves were the surprise packet of last year, finishing fourth, and have four returning players in Paige Le Gassick, Jade Peacock, Layla-J Cameron and Jessica Petrie as they look to ride the wave of momentum in 2018.

Tickets can be purchased for the Under-14 Boys Championships here and Girls Club Championships here.

With a week to go until the 2018 Under-14 Boys and Girls Club Championships tip off in Kilsyth and Shepparton respectively, the team lists for both tournaments have been announced.
