Under-14 Indigenous Basketball Program

We are currently looking for players that are interested in participating to register their interest.

To be eligible for the program players must:

  • Identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Currently reside in Victoria
  • Be born in 2006 or 2007

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

Indigenous basketballers will be identified to participate in a number of different tournaments though out 2019.

The program consists of three stages – Local Regional Camps, State Selection Camp and Competitions.

1. Local Regional Camps

A number of one day camps will be held across Victoria, where participants will be exposed to the basketball pathway. Each camp has limited spots: a maximum of 30 boys and 30 girls for each camp. Athletes can register to participate in more than one camp.

However, if camps are at capacity, athletes will be asked to identify their preferred camp.

Camps

  • 21 October – Dandenong
  • 27 October – Traralgon
  • 10 November – Horsham
  • 1 December  – Wangaratta

2. State Selection Camp

A maximum of 30 boys and 30 girls will be invited to attend a State Selection Camp. The camp will be held over a weekend at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium on the 15/16 December.

To qualify for the selection camp, players are required to have attended a Local Regional Camp and receive an invitation to attend the selection camp. From this camp 12 boys and 12 girls will be selected to participate in a number of competitions and tournaments in 2019.
