GRADUATING ATHLETES ANNOUNCED FOR 2017 MEN’S PROGRAM

Three players have completed their scholarships at the CoE in Mate Colina, Matthew Johns and Callum Beard.

In 2016, Colina represented Australia at the Under-17 World Championships where the Crocs finished seventh while he has also verbally committed to the University of Hawaii.

Johns was a team mate of Colina’s at the Under-17 Worlds last year where he averaged 5.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while Beard proved himself an integral part of WA Metro at Australian Junior Championships as he recorded eight points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game at this year’s Under-18’s.

Ten players will return to the CoE in 2018 with three from Queensland (Callum Dalton, Aiden Krause, Samson Froling) and three from Western Australia (Daniel Grida, Kyle Bowen and Alex Ducas who graduated from the NBA Global Academy).

Joining them will be Alex Mudronja and Owen Hulland from South Australia, New South Wales’ Isaiah Lee and Josh Kunen from Victoria.

The NBA Global Academy will also see four athletes return in Tamuri Wigness (Queensland), Hunter Clarke (Tasmania/USA), Anyang Garang (South Australia) and Wani Swaka (Western Australia).

“The CoE is excited to be returning nine of our athletes from 2017 and graduating Alexander Ducas from the NBA Global Academy,” said Adam Caporn, CoE Head Coach and Boomers assistant coach.

“It has been an exciting year with our launch and partnership with the NBA Global Academy bringing even greater opportunities for our athletes to improve each day.

“We look forward to a challenging 2018 calendar with events such as the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, NBL Combine and NBA Academy games adding to an already challenging SEABL competition calendar.

“The returning and incoming athletes have demonstrated tremendous commitment to our program, each other and their own daily improvement. We look forward to seeing them compete at an even higher level in 2018.”
