FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Dates Announced

Australia is one of 80 nations competing for one of 32 spots at the World Cup, with the process including six qualifying windows over a 15-month period over the four regions of Asia/Oceania, Africa, Americas and Europe.

The Australian Boomers, ranked third in the FIBA World Rankings, will be seeking redemption in the 2023 competition after they closed out the 2019 World Cup in China with a heartbreaking fourth place finish, losing to France for bronze, 67-59.

Qualification for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will take place from November 2021 to February 2023, with the first window of qualification being played from November 22 – 30, 2021.

The qualification windows are as below:

1st Window: November 22 – 30, 2021
2nd Window: February 21 – March 1, 2022
3rd Window: June 27 – July 5, 2022
4th Window: August 22 – 30, 2022
5th Window: November 7 – 15, 2022
6th Window: February 20 – 28, 2023

FIBA’s Central Board have confirmed the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held from August 25 to September 10, 2023 in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, marking the first time in FIBA World Cup history the competition will be held in multiple countries.
