Basketball Victorian youngsters Lily Scanlon (Bulleen Boomers and Salesian College) and Sara-Rose Smith (Hawthorn Magic and Wesley College) have enjoyed growing success during 2018 following their dedication to their junior associations and schools.
“We are excited about the potential, passion and persistence of both Lily and Sara and are very much looking forward to their arrival at the CoE,” said Kristen Veal, Centre of Excellence Head Coach – Women’s Program.
“We believe both young athletes will flourish in the elite daily training environment as they continue their development towards long and successful basketball careers.”
After representing Vic Metro for the second time at the Under-18 Australian Junior Championships earlier this year, Scanlon is now set to represent the Australian Sapphires at the Under-17 World Cup where they will be chasing their second consecutive gold medal later this month.
Smith also proudly represented Vic Metro in the Under-18’s this year, her first Australian Championships and she is also preparing to play for Australia in 3×3 competition at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires this October.
Scanlon and Smith will join ten returning Centre of Excellence athletes and one NBA Global Academy athlete for the remainder of 2018.
