Casey Stadium Stage 2 facilities opened

City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon officially opened Stage 2 of the Casey Stadium redevelopment on Tuesday 25 June at a special event to celebrate the project’s completion with Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards MP and representatives from state sporting organisations.

Features of the $7.3 million Stage 2 project include:

  • New and upgraded multipurpose courts for basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball, including a mini-show court
  • Refurbished café and lounge space
  • Upgraded bathrooms as well as male, female and accessible change rooms

These features complement the $18 million, Stage 1 of the redevelopment which opened in 2017, which delivered five new basketball and netball courts, including a show court with seating for up to 1,500 spectators, a café, piazza and function space.

Cr Stapledon said Council was proud to deliver such a premier indoor sports facility for the Casey community.

“Following this major redevelopment, Casey Stadium is now one of the most prominent, state-of-the-art and versatile indoor sporting venues in Victoria, servicing the forever expanding community of Casey and the broader south east Melbourne region,” she said.

“The new and improved stadium paves the way for new participation opportunities for the community, from domestic competitions right through to elite sporting pathways.

“Some of the elite clubs that Casey Stadium has already secured include the Casey Cavaliers Big V basketball teams, the newly-formed Casey Demons Victorian Netball League Club, Casey Stars Indoor Cricket Club and the Casey Gymnastics Club.

“Casey Stadium is already attracting some fantastic sporting events to the region, including Big V games, college basketball games, Victorian Netball League games and the Sikh Games.

“I am proud to officially open this amazing redeveloped facility and to see the active participation opportunities Casey Stadium will offer the Casey community for many years to come.”
