Etihad Stadium will play host to these two historic games on Thursday 22 August and Saturday 24 August 2019 as part of both nations’ preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, starting on 31 August 2019.

Today’s announcement is welcome news for the thousands of fans in Australia and around the globe who have been waiting for their opportunity to get a seat at the must-see sporting event of 2019.

Basketball Australia CEO Anthony Moore said: “You can feel the excitement and anticipation building amongst the basketball family in Australia and around the world with some of the best players coming to Melbourne for these games.

“We now have 10 players on NBA rosters and a wealth of talent playing in the NBL, the stage is set for the most anticipated basketball games in Australian sporting history.”

The CEO of promoter TEG Geoff Jones confirmed that more than 80,000 people have registered on the wait-list, a sign of the huge interest in the games.

“Basketball has enjoyed a real resurgence over the past two years and the Boomers v USA Basketball series has arrived at precisely the right time to focus the national sporting interest,” said Jones.

“Everything about these games will be truly remarkable, from the collection of stars on court to the fantastic atmosphere for fans. These two events will be unforgettable.”

The surge in basketball’s popularity in Asia coupled by the optimism surrounding the Boomers and our home-grown NBA stars, ensures this truly is an event not to be missed.

Tickets for the 2019 Boomers v USA Basketball games at Etihad Stadium will go on sale to the General Public at 1:00pm on Wednesday 29 August with adult ticket prices starting from $89.90 and children’s tickets from $69.90.
