Basketball Victoria to support Helping Hoops Charity Shootout

The Charity Shootout will be held this year in October, with Basketball Victoria set to match its donation from 2018 to support the growth and administration of Melbourne-based charity Helping Hoops.

The event runs across 5-6 October at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) to raise funds for the charity, which puts on free weekly clinics for Melbourne’s underprivileged, all-abilities and migrant communities.

Basketball Victoria CEO Nick Honey said supporting Helping Hoops is the perfect fit for the organisation.

“Helping Hoops is an incredible charity supporting Melbourne’s ever-growing basketball community,” Honey said. “Basketball Victoria is proud to support Helping Hoops as Adam McKay and his team continue to provide free basketball opportunities to Melbourne’s underprivileged, all-abilities and migrant communities.

“This donation further strengthens our partnership with Helping Hoops and we’re excited to continue working alongside such an impactful, important organisation that improves the lives so many Melburnians.

“Our contribution requires the community to participate in the Charity Shootout and make your free throws though, as we contribute a dollar every shot made to ensure Helping Hoops reaches its fundraising goals.

“We look forward to seeing everyone getting along to MSAC this October school holidays to showcase your support for Helping Hoops and hit a few free throws along the way.”
