AUSTRALIA TO FEATURE IN FIRST STOP OF FIBA 3X3 WOMEN WORLD SERIES

Mirroring the men’s World Tour that features a number of qualifiers played around the world, this first stop in China will begin the same process for the women.

Bec Cole, Maddie Garrick, Alice Kunek and Hanna Zavecz will take on quality opposition, meeting Mongolia (who they defeated in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Semi-Final), USA and France in the group stage.

“This is an exciting first step for the 3×3 women’s game and the women’s World Series will provide more opportunities for Australia to compete against the best countries in the world,” said National 3×3 Pathway Manager, David Biwer.

“The games in Chengdu also offer the Australian women the chance to continue their preparation ahead of the FIBA World Cup in June after coming off such a successful tournament at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup.”

The tournament will run this Friday (May 31) and Saturday (June 1) while the men’s side of the tournament, the Chengdu Masters, runs on Saturday and Sunday (June 2).

After winning their way through the NBL 3×3 Pro Hustle tour, West Melbourne Stateside will participate in the Chengdu Masters and be represented by Lucas Walker, Peter Crawford, Tim Keating and Cooper Wilks.

Australia’s Schedule for the Women’s World Series Chengdu Stop (all times AEST):

May 31: Australia vs. Mongolia at 5.10pm
May 31: Australia vs. USA at 6.00pm
May 31: Australia vs. France at 8.50pm
June 1: Finals between 6.30pm-8.30pm

Following their success at the 2019 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup that saw them return to the top of the podium with an unbeaten record, the Australian women will stay in China for the first stop of the FIBA 3×3 Women World Series.
